Food Donations Being Made This Week

Thank you to everyone who donated food this week! We collected a good variety of non-perishable food items and they will be taken to The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties later this week. If you'd like more information about volunteering or donating food at this location, you can see their website for more information.

We were only able to get a few bags made to put the food in, but hopefully they will be a blessing to whatever family receives them.

The bags make a great carry-all and can be used for just about anything!

If you are interested in making a tote, and filling it with food to donate to your local food bank, email me at, and I'll send you the pdf for making one of these cute bags. Maybe you can even just fill it up with something for a elderly neighbor, whip some up and bring them to a nursing home filled with some toiletries or treats....they can be a blessing to lots of different people!

Also, this weekend, I discovered this sign in the window of the subway at Aldrich Plaza on Rt 9 here in Howell. If you know anyone who can benefit from this location's generosity, please let them know! And if you're hungry for a 6" Italian BMT someday, please consider supporting this business which is trying to do its part. :)

Our next Create and Donate is scheduled for
Sunday, November 16 from 2-5 pm.
We will be making zip top pencil cases for Operation Christmas Child
It is an annual campaign run by Samaritan's Purse.
Pricing will be as follows:
Attend the zipper class and make a cute pencil case: $30 - plus your materials.
Attend the zipper class and donate your pencil case to be included in an Operation Christmas Child shoebox: $15 plus materials.
Attend the zipper class, donate your pencil case and bring another item to be donated and your class is free! (You just need to bring your supplies)

We will also be collecting items at the shop to fill shoeboxes. Directions for filling shoeboxes and the items that are ok to include can be found here. If you are considering donating - please read over the list before purchasing. There are just some things that can't be sent or accepted, and these items will be weeded out before being packed in a shoebox.

If you would like to donate supplies to make pencil cases, or if you are coming to the Create and Donate, here is what you need:
One 9" zipper in the color of your choosing
a fat quarter or 1/4 yard of 100% cotton fabric print (nothing with guns, military or violent themes).
a fat quarter or 1/4 yard of solid colored fabric or muslin.
1/4 yard of lightweight fusible interfacing.

If you are interested in purchasing a pencil case for yourself, as a gift or to include in your own Operation Christmas Child shoebox, you can find the listing for these in my shop here. These will be available for purchase through November 10, and for each one purchased, $7 will be donated to Samaritan's Purse.

Hope you all have a great week!
:) allison
